The week of July 27-August 2, 2009 we meditated on God Limiting Our Temptations. Boy, we know about those don't we. It seems that daily something is coming against us to tempt us to do wrong. It's a never ending battle for sure. Sister Leslie brought out that point that temptation takes you to an opportunity to sin whether it is sex, lying, stealing, covetousness, greed, pride, uncontrolled anger or any other sin. Let's look at that uncontrolled anger.

The scripture says "we are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; "

A lady in my sunday school class brought out this wonderful point about when she want to give people a piece of her mind. Sometimes we are tempted to do that. We get so angry about the way things are going, that sometimes we just NEED to tell people how we feel. So we think. However, she said that the holy ghost gave her the revelation that "when you give people a piece of your mind that you are actually giving them YOUR PIECE OF MIND." Piece of mind is the most valuable thing we have. You never want to give in to temptation where you allow Satan to destroy your piece of mind. As you meditate on the word of God, use these handy scriptures below as your ammunition and reinforcement. Replenish your ammunition with the word of God. Have a blessed week!

Proverbs 25:28

He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

1 Cor. 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Hebrews 2:18

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.

Hebrews 4:15

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

James 1:2-3

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

James 1:12-14

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

2 Peter 2:9

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Proverbs 16:32

He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Evangelist Dorothy
